Drexler-Automotive Formel Cup

After exhilarating races in Mugello, Imola, Budapest, and the Red Bull Ring, the Drexler Formula Cup is set to embark on the second half of the season on yet another Formula 1 track. This return to Spa-Francorchamps is momentous as the last Drexler Formula Cup was held there precisely two years ago, also at the Spa Summer Classic.

The Drexler Formula Cup will officially start in Spa as the "Motor Classic Drexler Open Formula" on July 7th, 2023, at 12:05, for one of the two free training sessions. Additional training is available at 9:00 am with the option for a 50-minute session, an opportunity known as the Franz Wöss Racing Tracktime.

In collaboration with the Zinox F2000 Trophy, the starting lineups for the two races will be determined by the fastest two laps of the qualifying round. Each of the five sessions during the weekend will last 25 minutes. The thrill of Formula 1 will be palpable at Spa, with the competition organised by Franz Wöss remaining attractive even in its 32nd season.

As the deadline approaches, over 40 names are already listed on the entry list. Series organizers Franz Wöss and Pierro Longhi are not the only ones excited about the lineup; event organizer Vincent Collard also expressed his delight at the prospect of many exciting formula races at the 15th Spa Summer Classic.

In addition to the Drexler Formula Cup, the event will feature eight different historic racing series ensuring an entertaining experience for visitors. Special attention should be given to the Colmore Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge, a Dutch racing series that previously captivated audiences at the Red Bull Ring Classics with its 51-vehicle starting grid.

From an Austrian perspective, it's exciting to note that Michael Steffny, founder of the Histo-Cup Austria, will be reigniting his BMW 320 Group 5. Another big name appearing in the Super Sixties series is Dieter Karl Anton with his newly rebuilt 1964 Lotus Cortina. The current list of participants already includes more than 350 vehicles that will be roaring through the Ardennes!
